WTCBN’S WORLD TRADE CELEBRATION RETURNS ON SEPTEMBER 15

World Trade Center Buffalo Niagara’s first in-person event in more than two years to focus on EVs and opportunities in Buffalo Niagara

BUFFALO, NY (Aug. 26) – World Trade Center Buffalo Niagara (WTCBN) president Craig Turner announced today that after a two-year hiatus, the organization’s annual World Trade Celebration will return on September 15. This year’s event will be held from 3:00 – 7:30 p.m. at Wurlitzer Events in North Tonawanda.

“For more than twenty years, we’ve gathered the regional trade community once a year to celebrate Buffalo Niagara’s place in global trade – a tradition, like so many traditions, that was interrupted by the pandemic,” said Turner. “We are thrilled to be back again this year, finally, and I know that our members and partners in the trade community are excited about the opportunity to gather again. We’ve added the EV hook as a timely conversation that our region should be having, and are looking forward to a great dialogue around the topic.”

For 2022, World Trade Celebration will focus on electric vehicles (EVs), highlighting ownership, infrastructure, freight transportation and opportunities in the supply chain for the bi-national Buffalo Niagara region. The event will feature two panel discussions on the future of EVs in the region, and members of the Tesla Owners Club of New York and various auto dealers will be on-hand to show off their vehicles during the networking portion of the event.

Panel discussions, “EVs and the Future of Freight Shipping” and “The Future of EVs in Buffalo Niagara”, will feature expert speakers including: Whitney Skeans, National Grid; Dean Wood, Borderworx Logistics; Stephen Still, University at Buffalo Stephen Still Institute for Sustainable Transportation and Logistics; Eric Miller, anovion-anode.

“For a number of reasons, the most obvious of which is the price of gas, electric vehicle events are hot right now, so we feel like the timing for this conversation is right on,” said Turner. “We’re taking a little different tact than most of these events, though, by bringing into the conversation supply chain opportunities that are coming available to our bi-national region. The point of the matter is… EVs are coming, and Buffalo Niagara is well-positioned to be at the forefront of the national conversation in two countries as they get here. Let’s talk about it.”

World Trade Celebration 2022 also includes the networking reception of the year for Buffalo Niagara’s international trade community, featuring the opportunity for companies involved in international business to showcase their organization and initiatives to our international business audience.
