WORLD TRADE CENTER BUFFALO NIAGARA ANNOUNCES LAUNCH OF MEXICO TRADE COUNCIL

Launch of Mexico Trade Council coincides with WTCBN 2018 Annual Meeting and 30th Anniversary Celebration

BUFFALO, NY (Nov. 14) – World Trade Center Buffalo Niagara (WTCBN) president Craig Turner announced this evening the official launch of the WTCBN Mexico Trade Council, one of a series of International Trade Councils designed to serve companies doing business in specific markets around the world. Turner announced the new Trade Council at the organization’s Annual Meeting and 30th Anniversary Celebration at Pearl Street Grill and Brewery.

“Mexico is a growing market ripe with opportunity for the Buffalo Niagara region, which already does great business there,” said Turner. “Through opportunities made possible by the North American Free Trade Agreement, and as we follow the road to adoption of the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement, our relationship with Mexico continues to flourish. The Mexico Trade Council will be a resource for any company with interests in that market.”

The Mexico Trade Council is the second of the Councils announced by WTCBN, following last month’s launch of the inaugural group, the China Trade Council. Turner said that the organization will announce one new council each month for the next several months, based on markets where presence by companies in the bi-national Buffalo Niagara region is already strong.

“One of World Trade Center’s benefits is serving as a one-stop shop for companies working in various markets, or looking at new trade opportunities,” said John DeLuca, international sales manager for Liberty Pumps, who will serve as chair of the WTCBN Mexico Trade Council. “The Trade Councils will help to create a focused and accessible resource for companies, and I’m pleased to be a part of the dialogue surrounding our region’s relationship with the Mexican market.”

“One of the great benefits of being a World Trade Center member is that you have access to more than 300 World Trade Centers around the world,” said Turner. “By focusing our resources on specific markets where our region is already strong, we can strengthen the right relationships to create opportunities for companies in Western New York and Southern Ontario. Buffalo Niagara does a great deal of business in Mexico.”

The WTCBN Trade Councils are designed to provide support, information, education and sharing of best practices for WNY and Southern Ontario companies doing business in targeted global markets, where the region has a critical mass of companies trading. The Councils are open to WTCBN members, and comprised of both mature companies working in the respective markets, as well as new companies engaging in a new market. Participating in a Council is intended to enhance companies’ international efforts, and create competitive advantage through access to knowledge and expertise. Trade Council activities will include opportunities for peer-to-peer expertise, on-going content specific to each market, and an individualized media library.

Turner noted that a key component of the Mexico Trade Council will be the World Trade Centers Association’s upcoming 2019 General Assembly, which will be held in Queretaro, Mexico in April.  He says his hopes are that engagement through the Trade Council will help the region be able to send a strong delegation of companies to participate.

World Trade Center Buffalo Niagara is celebrating its 30th year in 2018. Its mission is to assist companies in Western New York and Southern Ontario to find success beyond their domestic markets. WTCBN is part of the World Trade Centers Association. More information on the WTCBN International Trade Councils is available at www.wtcbn.com
