WTCBN Hosting 1st Annual International Case Competition

Teams from Brock, Canisius, Niagara and UB will compete at the Montante Cultural Center at Canisius College

BUFFALO, NY (March 1) – World Trade Center Buffalo Niagara (WTCBN) president Craig Turner announced that tonight, Friday, March 1, WTCBN will host its 1st Annual International Case Competition, 3:00 – 6:30 p.m. at Canisius College’s Montante Cultural Center. Teams from the undergraduate business and international programs at Brock University, Canisius College, Niagara University and the University at Buffalo will compete using a real-life case supplied by a WTCBN member.

“We’re very excited to have the opportunity to work with all four of these higher ed institutions at the same time, in a meaningful way that brings together our companies looking for their future workforce, and students looking for their future employers,” said Turner. “The International Case Competition is a beautiful hook to get everyone in the room together, and we’re looking forward to the students’ presentations, and engagement with our members.”

The day’s program will include the case presentation, pitching, awards ceremony, networking reception, and feature keynote speaker John DeLuca, International Sales Manager for Liberty Pumps. WTCBN members and guests are invited and encouraged to watch the students’ presentations and then network with the students during the reception.

Judging the students’ presentations will be WTCBN members Steve Briggs, Vice President Sales, Dynabrade; Rob Clark, Director, Global Procurement, Rich Products Corporation; Kevin Jacobi, Executive Director, Canada BW; and Rosanna Masucci, Director, Buffalo Export Assistance Center, U.S. Department of Commerce.

“Rich Products is pleased to have the opportunity to be a part of this innovative and forward-thinking event, which tackles one of the significant challenges in workforce – connecting with young talent in our region,” said Rob Clark, with Rich Products Corporation and WTCBN Board member. “Personally, I’m looking forward to the interaction with the students, and hearing their perspectives on international trade and the global marketplace.”

WTCBN’s 1st Annual International Case Competition is generously sponsored by Calamar, Canisius College, Dynabrade, Niagara University and Rich Products.

Cost to attend the event is $25 for WTCBN and Community Members and complimentary for students and faculty from the four participating schools. Student presentations will begin at 3 p.m., with the reception, keynote presentation and awards beginning at 5 p.m.
